Miss IN Teen USA 2020
For as long as I can remember health has always been one of my biggest passions. However, when I was younger and choosing the platform I wanted to stand for I didn’t realize how health was so much more than getting enough exercise. Within a few years of my pageant journey I realized that a lot of your health has to do with how you feel about yourself. Personally, pageants have always helped me keep a positive outlook about myself. Being on stage made me feel the most confident even if I was extremely nervous. Competing in pageants has always made me feel like I could do anything. It’s given me the confidence to be fearless in my pursuits even if I might fail. I think that’s a beautiful thing that many young people are still trying to achieve. The fear of failure is real and it’s the reason behind many broken dreams. Luckily, competing in pageantry has shown me that even if you fail the first time, life moves on and you can always try again. Over this past year and a half as Miss Indiana Teen USA and throughout quarantine, I got a lot of time to self reflect as I’m sure you did too. I thought about who I was without the title and I realized that I had spent so much time preparing for nationals that I stopped doing the things I love besides pageantry. I started thinking about how many people are guilty of doing this when they really love something, so I’ve decided to share my advice. It’s really important to remember that you are your own person. You are so much more valuable than a trophy, medal, or crown. Always make sure you like the person you are regardless of what you are involved in because that’s what really matters.
Thank you for your insight Jinnie! You have had a wonderful reign as Miss IN Teen USA 2020, and you are so right. It can at times be overwhelming to be a titleholder, so thank you for being candid and real. I’m glad to hear that you know you are more than a crown, and I think everyone should be reminded of this!!
